VisTracks, Inc.
HOS247
VisTracks and HOS247 are two white-label ELD solutions that allow resellers to provide electronic logging devices to their customers under their own brand name. Both companies are on the Federal Motor Carrier Administration’s self-registration list and their apps can be used on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
At HOS247, we decided to put our ELD solution to the test against VisTracks. After reviewing real data gathered from user reviews and a thorough comparison of the software and hardware performance of each ELD, here is why we can proudly say HOS247 is the better option.

VisTracks Reviews vs. HOS247
As a reseller, choosing the right ELD for your customers isn’t always easy. With driver turnover rates rising as they are, and given the driver shortage, making sure that the software you offer is user-friendly is a key factor to take into account. Let’s take a look at some ELD reviews from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for each company’s app.
VisTracks ELD App Reviews
After careful examination of user reviews from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, we identified common grievances regarding constant crashing and malfunctions, made worse by having a hard time getting through to a customer support representative.
HOS247 ELD App Reviews
A common thread amongst HOS247 users is their satisfaction with our technical support team. Apart from the easy-to-use app, customers report positive experiences with the electronic logbook performance and compliance with FMCSA regulations.
Reliability is a crucial attribute to look for in a provider since a smooth-running ELD will save customers time and money. Connectivity issues and data inconsistencies mean that drivers have to take time out of their schedules to resolve them. If they are unable to contact customer support to get help, they might have to report the malfunction to their carrier and rerecord their HOS on paper logs until their elog is running properly to avoid compliance issues. HOS247 has earned higher ratings thanks to its efficient technical support made easier by high-performing hardware and stable connectivity.
VisTracks Acquired by Omnitracs
Solving connectivity issues and customer service deficiencies might be harder for Vistracks since it was recently purchased by the logistics telematics company Omnitracs. While Omnitracs has been in the fleet management service business for decades, their user reviews leave much to be desired, mostly due to poor customer service, unreliable hardware and slow-responding devices.

VisTracks Features vs. HOS247
The primary concern when choosing an ELD is definitely compliance. However, extra features are a great way to offer clients more value for their money.

Regarding features, HOS247 comes out on top due to its superior operating capacities and multiple extra features, such as fleet maintenance, idle reporting, vehicle diagnostics, and the upcoming fleet dashcam option. Resellers can offer HOS247’s ELD solution to their customers as a stand-alone product or with the option to add GPS tracking. If a client already has a GPS tracking system installed, HOS247 can be fully integrated with their current system via API.
In addition, HOS247 has been extensively tested and has been proven to offer compliance with federal and state requirements, as well as Canadian and Mexican regulations. We constantly receive former VisTracks resellers who decide to switch to HOS247 and are glad to hear that they find our option to be more profitable, reliable, and easy to use.
VisTracks Hardware vs. HOS247
Due to white labeling, many self-certified ELDs on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) website use the same ELD software. VisTracks and HOS247 are two of the very few companies that provide an ELD software platform for resellers that can then be packaged with certain hardware and relabelled. However, as a white label software developer, defining hardware options can be a game changer.
VisTracks Hardware
Vistracks offers several different third-party hardware solutions. Working with several hardware vendors presents a significant challenge in assuring the software works optimally with every hardware option. Additionally, it compromises the quality of technical support since representatives would require hefty training to provide effective assistance for different devices. This situation diminishes their capability to address user concerns, and it is challenging for resellers since they have to deal with multiple third parties, which can be frustrating.
HOS247 Hardware
HOS247 offers a single hardware solution. Our app was specifically developed to pair up with the most reliable hardware option. A deep understanding of the hardware’s functioning ensures ideal connectivity with the software. It also allows HOS247 to provide high-quality customer support for both its software and its hardware. HOS247’s multilingual customer support team is experienced and well-equipped to answer any questions that drivers or fleet managers might have.
FMCSA Certification
It is important to remember that the FMCSA does not actually evaluate electronic logging devices and certify their compliance. To get on the Self-Certified List, providers must complete a checklist declaring they comply with every requirement. However, their place on the list can be revoked at any time due to persistent malfunction events and user complaints, or if the company goes out of business. Both ELD providers reviewed in this article are registered with the FMCSA, but you should always make sure any solution you consider has been tested properly.
VisTracks Certification
Since VisTracks pairs up with several hardware manufacturers, the company appears in the self-registration list 36 different times (meaning 34 devices), which can be confusing for end users and DOT inspectors. This is an example of one of their registrations followed by the full list of VisTracks self-registered devices:

About the ELD Mandate in the United States
The ELD Mandate affects drivers all across North America, yet it originated in the United States as a legislation issued by the FMCSA. Essentially, the mandate requires commercial motor vehicle drivers who are subject to hours of service (HOS) recordings to electronically record their HOS using an electronic logging device approved by FMCSA. The legislation considers that an electronic logging device is one that connects to a vehicle and automatically records driving hours, easily transferring that data for HOS reports. The HOS data should be easily accessible either remotely by fleet managers, or on-site by the driver or Department of Transportation (DOT) officers during roadside inspections.
While there are exceptions to who must abide by the ELD Mandate, millions of commercial drivers in the US are required to maintain records of duty status and must use elogs to do it. Drivers who live in Mexico or Canada are also expected to abide by the mandate if they operate in the United States. The ELD Mandate is enforced by the Department of Transportation.
The ELD requirement has not been fully welcomed amongst truck drivers; however, the abundant demand for electronic logging devices has presented an amazing opportunity for resellers to capitalize on and take their business to new heights, while offering the best to their clients.

I’ve co-founded, built and managed several transportation-related businesses.
